Old River Cabinets - Good Company on tough Times

They did a big project and were super in every way....Responsive...

Great product... Really tried to please...i hope they get out if bankruptcy and resume operations.... I want to have some other cabinets done. This was a good company with good folks who hit tough times.

I have no connection to The Company or any employees just sad to see this happen. Its sad too that in the final stages good customers got caught up in the financial woes and got poor service....

That was NOT the way things were when this Company was humming...Sad to see.

Old River Cabinets - Great Company no matter what others say since we completed a very large kitchen

Columbus, Ohio 1 comment

It is very upsetting to hear all the negative comments concerning this company as we just finished a very large kitchen with this company. There was never a time that either my wife or I had called that their response was within a few hours. I wish this company the best and hope that this all pans out for them. To the President/CEO you should be very proud of our kitchen designer Scott Fiore we could have not asked for a better individual to work with a true professional. if you need any recommendations or I can help in any way please feel free to contact me.

Wow.ORC is now file for bankruptcy.

Just befor filring for bankruptcy they took in money for cabinets, but they (Jon Beckner) forgot to tell the salepeople that the plant was close. Yes thats right Jon Beckner had close the factory 2 week before closeing the showrooms and still took in money for cabinets that they could not produce. Where did the money go??? they did not pay the suppleirs or the employees so where is the money Jon Beckner???

Oh yea Scott Fiore, his father is one of the owners of ORC.Bankruptcy petition #:12-36761-KRH

Old River Cabinets sold me cabinets that were not wood

I went to Old River Cabinets for kitchen cabinets.I was told the cabinets were all wood.

Well the cabinets are installed and I have press board sides and MDF doors. But I was sold all wood. The saleperson that sold me the cabinets dose not work for old river cabinets any more. I was then told that they stop with the all wood 2 1/2 years ago.

But they will remake the doors for me, just not the one I wanted. So now all I have is press wood, MDF and attitude out of old river cabinets.

Well I am up the river with out wood.THANKS OLD RIVER CABINETS

They have to use mdf Fixitagain, sold "real" wood will possibly split on the ends or you will have warping issues over time, mdf is still wood, its just designed to be more stable over the years.

We love our new kitchen. We "modernized" the kitchen to help with resale and it will definitely be an added attractive feature to our home when we do put it for sale.

Unfortunately we've come to enjoy the improvements so much, it's now become our standard for looking at new homes, and none are measuring up to the quality and capability resulting from new cabinets. The installation went smoothly and the installers were very professional in their installation efforts, timeliness and overall work ethic.

Yes there were minor things we would have done differently, but none of those would be associated with the quality of work or product value delivered by Old River Cabinets.

Happy Northern Va Customer :)

The above was written as if it came from me but it definitely did not and is only half true.I went to ORC because I wanted solid wood frames and doors and was shown and told by the salesperson that the Euro Slab doors were solid wood which was confirmed by the second saleperson.

When they arrived I found the doors were MDF with venier overlay. Upon contacting ORC I was told that the slab door was changed over several years ago due to issues with end grain splitting but the sales staff was unaware of the change. Upon visiting the factory I was shown the problem doors and my options and they explained the technical isues very well. The other door styles remain solid wood and ORC is making me replacement solid wood doors of a slightly different style from the Slab design.

The frames and rest on the cabinets that are on site are well made.

All companies make mistakes and what makes the great ones is how they respond to the mistake. So far ORC response has been excellent and I expect my replacement doors shortly.

Old River cabinets are been haul into court by their bank case#cl12000017-00.Former salepeople case# gv12000056-00 & gv11002689-00.

Their former CEO case# gv11047759-00. And case # gv11002689-00 rent on the short pump showroom. look in to this company. They have a real estate agent running the company now.

This would make the 3 CEO in one year. 2 plant manager one year. sales people come and go.

If you are gone to have someone in your home, you might want to know if they are gone to be in business a year from now.Its your money

It all makes sense now.Be cautious moving forward with this company.

They closed their two locations in northern va just in the past months and have been letting people go left and right. It sounds like they are headed back into bankruptcy, possibly on their way closing the doors for good.

I went to the show room in Short Pump over 4 weeks ago, left my name for a call back. That took two weeks.

Then I spent 2 hours with the sales person, entering all of the measurements and requirements into their software. He committed to provide a design/estimate in 4 business days. On the 7th business day, I called the store, only to be told that he had left the company. I had to schedule a 2nd appointment (for a week later).

I set expectations with the 2nd sales person that they needed to have at least 2 design options for the cabinets. I went to that appt, only to be told they couldn't find the original drawings, then they did find them, but no one had worked on them.

So nothing had been done in 2 weeks.Worst customer experience I have had in a while.

Dear Customer,

Attempts have been made to contact you and address your comments with no response other than continued negative remarks on third party websites. It is of utmost disappointment to hear about your experience in our showroom. Unfortunately, you were inconvenienced with a termination of one designer and another designer having to pick up the work and move the process forward. Again… if at all possible, I would like the opportunity to introduce myself and explain my role in restructuring Old River Cabinets and offer you the best custom cabinetry available. Understood, there is no excuse for your experience, however a second chance to work with you would be greatly appreciated. Your adamant request for no contact by phone or email has been and will be honored. My hopes are that my responses to your third party website comments will bridge another attempt to create a new relationship with you and Old River Cabinets with positive results.

Best regards

Old River Cabinets, Poor Customer Service

Virginia Beach, Virginia 2 comments

Discovered water under the sink. I started looking for the cause. The connection between the sink and granite were not sealed. The sink had seperated from the granite leaving it open for water to pool into the cabinet below.

Luckily my wife noticed it. I called Old River over a month ago about the problem. I had to call again. After 6 weeks I was called about the problem.

Someone was to come out this week 12 Aug 2011 in the afternoon, no set time. As a result I had to take the afternoon off. No one showed.

Called the the individual who was coming out. Said they had another job and it would have to be next week, which means I have to take more time off from work. If I ran my business this way I would be out of work.
